Finest quality handle is hand carved with owl bird head on the side.
Handle is carved from domestic cattle b0ne (mentioned to comply with ebay policy).
Circa 19th century. 
Handle is made from two pieces.
Bottom part with owl head is carved from one single piece of bone, no details are applied - outstanding quality workmanship - superb realistic details. 
Original glass eyes.
High quality bamboo shaft - light, but sturdy. 
Unmarked gold filled collar.

Handle is about 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm) long and 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm) wide at the top. 
Bamboo shaft is about 3/4 in. (19 mm) diameter at the top, just under metal collar.

Very good original antique condition with normal charming indication of age.
Minor expected age wear and scratches to wooden shaft.

Age wear to original metal ferrule (tip of the shaft).
