Absolutely gorgeous antique sword of high rank officer / general - definitely indicator of wealth and high social status. 
Finest quality throughout, meticulous attention to smallest details. 
Eastern islamic mamluk (mameluke) style. 
Post napoleonic wars period, circa first half of 19th century.
These type of swords became popular in europe after napoleon's invasion of egypt in 1798.
Sword was probably made on special order for important client using gorgeous spanish toledo blade.
Dramatically carved hand forged blade is signed on one side: "fabrica de toledo, ano de 1843"  
Iron scabbard is painted black with gold gilded fittings, superb crisp detailed decoration. 
"shamshir style" ornate gold gilded cross-guard with magnificent quality details. 
Gold gilded hilt components with 2 b0ne grip panels (domestic animal cattle b0ne, mentioned to comply with ebay policy). Cattle is a large domestic farm animal kept for their milk or meat. This animal is not threatened or endangered or protected by cites, the endangered species act, or any other state, federal, or international laws. Overall very good+ original antique condition, shows normal honest wear and charming indication of age for about 200 years old sword.
Blade is excellent with only very minor expected wear. 
Handling marks, light dents and scratches to scabbard (looks like scabbard was repainted long ago). 
Expected normal honest age wear to gilding and light handling marks to hilt parts and scabbard mounts.  
Slight play to cross-guard.
