Extremely fine antique islamic sword - pulwar. 
Afghanistan or northern india (now pakistan), circa late 19th century.
Traditional afghan pulwar iron grip mounted on magnificent polished blade, decorated with islamic style floral decoration, national coat of arms of afghanistan (mosque), arabic calligraphy and dated 1313 islamic calendar (1895 gregorian calendar). 
Blade is probably special order european manufacturing, most likely made in spain, toledo (it was very expensive to order such a blade in afghanistan at that time - original owner definitely spent tons of money for this outstanding sword!).
Leather over wood scabbard with solid silver hand engraved fittings. 
Superb small silver details on scabbard.
Beautiful, fine quality hand chiseled large iron grip, contains small stones inside the pommel. Stones are from holly city of mecca.
Gorgeous mirror-like polished and etched on both sides steel blade. Dated 1313 islamic calendar (1895 european calendar).  
Highest quality throughout, all parts 100% original.
  Large size:
About 38 1/2 in. (97.8 cm) long in the scabbard (straight line).  
About 37 1/4 in. (94.6 cm) long without the scabbard.
Blade is about 31 1/2 in. (80 cm) long.
   Condition:
Very good original antique condition with normal charming indication of age. 
Some dark spots on extremely sharp blade.
Scabbard is in good antique condition, noticeable wear to original black leather. 
Leather shrunk over the years, exposing wood at some places. 
Middle silver mounts with suspension rings on scabbard are loose. 
Wood is slightly shrunk also due to age, prevents blade to go inside scabbard all the way (blade goes inside about 99% of it's length).
Normal light dents and dings to silver mounts.
